The “War on Christmas” Gets an Ad Campaign (VIDEO)

This…

I don't…

Why is…

This is a commercial put out by a Catholic group out of New Jersey. It claims that because not everyone chooses to celebrate Christmas, that automatically means there is a “War on Christmas.” You know, the standard WOC junk.

Anyway, watch the creepy laugh this girl gives at the end.

Christians Creating Culture, Not Controlling It

This semester – my final semester at United Seminary (as I graduate in December) – I’m taking a class entitled ‘Christ, Culture & Conversion.’

So far, it has proved to be very challenging and exciting.

The above video features Andy Crouch – editor of Christianity Today – talking about how Christians should understand, interact with and create culture.

I highly recommend taking 10 minutes to view it.

Christians should be about creating, contributing to and interacting with the culture (a term which he defines in this video), rather than seeking to control it.  When we seek to control the culture – as we see is the goal of so many prominent Christians today – we typically don’t do a very good job.

To borrow a phrase from my new obsession with British television, “we muck it up.”  Let’s stop mucking it up.

Matt Barber – @jmattbarber – Gets MLK Sooooo Wrong

Yes, I'm on a “calling out false claims of persecution” kick today. Unfortunately, it's necessitated by those who are making it…well…necessary:)

Matt Barber is with Liberty Counsel. Essentially, it's like every other conservative group that thinks just because they can't do whatever they want, whenever they want and wherever they want, that they are being persecuted against.

And like an increasing number of these people, they are co-opting the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to prove their point.

I have no proof of this, but I would say Dr. King might have some words for these types of people.

The video above is just more proof that some American Christians have gone soft, and are completely willing to cheapen the real persecution Christians face around the world.

Of his thoughts on persecution of Christians, he says:

Christians have been persecuted for 2000 years by radical leftists. They used to just throw us to the lions. Now, what they do is try to force us to their way of thinking, to rehabilitate us to their way of thinking, under penalty of law.

This is, of course, ridiculous, wrong, and offensive to our brethren in Egypt and elsewhere – and throughout history – but that doesn't really matter to people like this. At least, in my experience.

There are, obviously, many other things wrong with this man's logic and heart, but I'll leave it here for now.

Idolatry! Little Boy’s Hideous Prayer to Barack Obama! (VIDEO)

Now that I have your attention, let me ask you a question:

Why did you click on this link?

If you are a Christian and clicked this link because you wanted further confirmation of the evil or destructive person you believe the President of the United States to be, than let me do some iron-sharpening for you.

First, here's the video in question:

The first time I was made aware of this was a Facebook post featuring a story from The Christian Post, an online, Christian news source. They recently published a story featuring an interview with myself and Joel.

Well, on Sunday, this little boy's mother posted this video under the title “Prayer for President Barack Obama.”

Dijya catch that? “For,” not “to.”

This boy's mother posted a video for herself, her family and her social media circles. Presumably, she posted it because she thought it was sweet that her son would think to pray for the President of the United States.

However, this little boy said a prayer and addressed it to the wrong person.

So, Christian America – mostly white, Christian America – has a collective freak-out. Forgetting that they've probably laughed at a YouTube video of a little white child botching a prayer, but in a cute way. Because this is a prayer for – not to – this POTUS, then it's the “America needs to repent because this child proves all the worst things I've created in my mind are true” meltdown.

This video will be everywhere soon. Rush Limbaugh will play it on an endless loop and remember his United Methodist roots, only so long as he can deride the president. Sean Hannity will devote an entire television segment to it. FOX News will feature it every hour for the next two news cycles.

All because a mother thought a video of her son praying was cute enough to post to YouTube.

Christian. Yes, you. Please do your soul a favor and not lose your mind over this.

Who knows who might take your next YouTube video out of context?
